What is Fastly Compute?
Fastly, best known as a CDN, introduced Compute@Edge in 2019 as a beta, took it to general availability in 2021, and in 2023 shortened the name to Compute as it matured into the company’s core compute platform.
Fastly has been open and quick when it comes to adding features and functionality to their Serverless product. The platform runs on WASM logic (with JIT compilation). All in all, one could expect very fast responses when it comes to running your application on Fastly. You can write Compute programs in any WASI (WebAssembly System Interface)-supporting language through SDKs.
Fastly has a unique online fiddler tool to experiment and try different Edge features and functionality without even having to register, live log tailing and individual end-user request trailing.
A notable customer of Fastly’s Compute platform is LoveHolidays.
