What is Exoscale?

Exoscale was founded in 2011 in Switzerland by a team of IT operations professionals aiming to create a European alternative to major cloud providers. Initially designed to offer developers straightforward, transparent, and reliable infrastructure for testing and building applications, the platform has since expanded its reach across Europe, with locations in Switzerland, Austria, Germany, Bulgaria and Croatia.

In 2017, Exoscale became part of A1 Digital International GmbH, enhancing its capabilities through expertise in IoT, cybersecurity, and cloud services. Today, Exoscale provides a range of products including compute instances, object and block storage, Kubernetes service, databases, and networking tools, with a focus on cloud-native development, data locality, and clear service commitments through defined Service Level Agreements.

Exoscale Datacenter Sustainability

Exoscale facilities in Germany and Switzerland are powered by 100% renewable energy. All green energy certificates are available in their compliance center. In Austria, they source 99% of their energy from renewable sources. Their data center in Bulgaria is currently sourcing 45% of its energy from renewable sources. Learn more about how they reduce their carbon footprint with Exoscale’s Impact Calculator.
